Kristin Markiton
Kristin Markiton released her debut solo record Wandering Moon on her independent label in February of 2006. Her CD Release show was to a sold out crowd at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur GA. Six months prior, she released the record Howlin’ with the Atlanta-based blues/rock band Delta Moon. That release was followed by a successful two-week tour in the UK. In August, 2006 she was invited to perform on TBS Storyline’s award winning “Soundstage”. Kristin wrote and performs the fun and up-beat original song, “Go Find a Woman,” for feature film, “Good Intentions.”
Kristin grew up in the small town of Deer Park, Washington. She discovered early on that she loved to sing. She spent her days and nights singing along with the radio, trying to make her voice do everything she heard. She began performing in musical theater productions in high school and studied voice classically in college. After having moved to Atlanta from Taos, NM in 1995, she performed in several professional musical theater productions and also sang a season with The Atlanta Opera Chorus.
In the spring of 2001 she began writing and performing songs with Walter Sorrells, playing Atlanta hotspots. In 2003 Kristin approached friend and colleague, Kristian Bush about producing her first solo record. Kristian accepted (pulled in Kevin Leahy as co-producer), but he had just begun a country music project with fellow Atlanta singer/songwriters Kristin Hall & Jennifer Nettles that he felt had promise. This project, Sugarland has since exploded onto the worldwide country music scene. Their debut CD Twice the Speed of Life has gone double platinum and has earned Sugarland a Grammy nomination and won them the Academy of Country Music’s award for Top New Duo/Group
Kristin, Kevin and John Shoffner (recording engineer for all vocals and co-producer) finally began the tedious, yet rewarding task of bringing Kristin’s solo record to completion. Wandering Moon was released to a standing-room-only crowd at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA on February 26th, 2006. Kristin resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and son where she continues to write, record and perform.
